Ossuary
A downloadable game
Oh no, not again. Another necromancer has set up home in the village Ossuary, the impressive underground cemetery in which the villagers have interred their dead for centuries. Not only has he animated the bodies of the dead to serve as his friends, but he has also enchanted and enlarged the once natural creatures who had made their home under the vaults, and has them wandering around as guard animals and pets. All this does nothing for the dignity of funerals and other ceremonies the villagers are still trying to hold down there.
So they've asked you, a young travelling hero trying to make your fortune, to help rid them of this nuisance. What you lack in experience you make up for in enthusiasm and willingness to put your life at risk for... well, for gold, basically. And as your reward the villagers will give you any treasure that you can carry out of the Ossuary with you. And being an adventuring hero, you can carry a lot.
Every game of Ossuary will be different. The 24 levels of the Ossuary are laid out at random. While each successive level will be harder, the appearance of different kinds of creatures, and the weapons and other items you will need to deal with them, may be earlier or later from game to game. Your hero will be different too: sometimes he'll be more proficient with a sword, while in other games, better at magic. So you'll be able to play this again and again.

Hi,
I really like your game for it's minimalistic game design and cool keyboard controls and I've just bought it.
There is just one thing about the game: Changing a gear set can be quite a pain especially when inventory is full. I could imagine 2 new shortkeys:
- switch marked item with left slot (L)
- switch marked item with right slot (R)
Now it takes a multitude of steps to switch e.g. staff with axe
Could you please add something like that in an update release?
Thanks for your cool game and Greetings
Thanks for buying! I'm glad you enjoy it. Ossuary was designed for the 16k Spectrum, for which I was running out of memory for features like one-step swapping of weapons, and I wanted the DOS version to retain exactly the same gameplay. But I'll definitely consider the feature for a future DOS roguelike where I have more memory to play with.
Thanks for your reply. I did'nt take memory shortage in account. Anyway the game is fun and i'm looking forward to checking your other projects.
Greetings from Germany
Hi, I’m contacting you because I want to make a homebrew tribute USB. I’m collecting as many content creators as possible. I also want to include a profile for each one, with a few details, such as their logo, avatar, name, work completed, projects, etc., so you can see who’s behind their creations.
That profile, along with any material you allow me to upload, will be placed on a USB drive. This will act as a database of creators and their creations, and will be updated as I connect with new people.
The USB I’m thinking of creating will be one of those rubber-type USBs, shaped like a Spectrum computer, something that looks really nice. The idea is that those who contribute material, and if they want to buy one or more, will get it at cost price, and those who just want to buy one, it will cost a little more.
The idea is that if enough are sold, enough to recover the initial investment, the profits that the rest of the USBs could generate will be distributed among the people who have contributed material to the project, via transfer, PayPal, or however possible, even if possible, that the USB will be free. Obviously, you can buy more than one, but only one of them can be free.
It’s not necessary or mandatory to buy the USB, only if you like it or want it.
If you’re interested in this project, you can contact me at this email, flopping@gmail.com. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know and I’ll answer them. Do you think the idea is a good one? Would you like to participate in the project? Let me know. Best regards.
Juan.
There, I renamed the cheat sheet for Ossuary: https://cheatography.com/tme520/cheat-sheets/ossuary-for-msdos-keyboard-mapping/
Great game, I'm on holidays for 2 weeks and I can tell you I will spend a fair amount of that time enjoying your creation.
I really like the colour palette of the first (red) screenshot. <3
Thanks, woodsmoke! I'm quite pleased with how the palette turned out.
Hello! I bought ossuary, in the dos version is there a way to save?
Thank you!
Thank you, Lucius! I hope you're enjoying the game. Unfortunately there's no save game feature. The games tend not to last very long so I didn't think it necessary at the time. If I write a more ambitious dungeon crawler in the future then I'd definitely include saved games, though!
Thanks, I assumed it! Keep developing roguelikes, they are never enough!
